About Us
I
opened the doors to Sign Effects in 1990. Previous experience in the
sign industry provided me the knowledge to run a successful
business. Now with over 20 years of experience I've built a well
established reputation and a loyal customer base. Aside from my
internet presence and retail location, positive comments and
referrals from existing clients are the core of my advertising.
Out of high school I was hired at a local sign company. I enjoyed
doing the work because I was able to use my natural creative talents
to design all types of signs and lettering for trucks. It seemed
second nature for me, and I loved it. After a couple of years I
worked at another sign company, than I took a management position at
a sign company in Philadelphia.
I was mentored by Tim Wadsworth, a well known sign maker/artist. He
taught me the craft of hand-carving signs and gilding and gave
insight on hand painting scenery and giving depth to what I was
working on. He has since retired from the business.
It wasn’t long before I opened the doors to Sign Effects.

I outgrew my first location in 3 years. Sign Effects was than
relocated to its current location in Collegeville, PA.
In the interest of expanding offerings to my clients, I have now
become certified through the New York Institute of Design. My
certifications include lighting design and interior design. I sought
this training because as my business has evolved, more and more
clients were asking me for advice on designing an overall design
theme for their business, business sign lighting, interior lighting,
color choices, and many clients have me go to their home to give
design advice there as well. This training has been a real asset
because I am able to create unique themed environments for
businesses which coordinate the signs, lighting, color schemes, and
theme with interior and exterior décor and finish.
I have a number of people that work in my business and bring their
own sign and graphics experience to my company. Just to name a few:
Bill Zerillo, who has helped out, given advice, and has grown to be
like a second father. He has been making signs for over 60 years. He
started and owned a sign company in New York City after he served in
the army. When he moved to Pennsylvania over 10 years ago he was
hired at Sign Effects and brought a wealth of sign making knowledge
to my company. Bill is an active member of the community. He belongs
to the Collegeville Rotary Club and volunteers at Pottstown Hospital
in his spare time.
Julia Loudis, my assistant, has been in the sign industry for 8 +
years prior to coming to Sign Effects and is also an accomplished
faux painter. Julia has worked for some of the best sign-artisans in
the industry and we are very proud to have her on-board. She is a
versatile, friendly person and assists in all aspects of the
business.
Because of our reputation for quick, quality, and creative designs
we letter 2-3 (or more) vehicles a day including trucks, vans,
trailers, box trucks, boats and race cars. We are constantly
designing and creating eye-catching wood signs, carved signs,
contractor signs, banners and other unique signs.
I still love the business after 20 years. Everyday at our shop is
different. I feel very fortunate to have the vision and ability to
think creatively, and to be able to put that knowledge and
experience to good use helping others grow and expand their
business!
Thank you for visiting.
